How to unlock your Motorola V3 RAZR cell phone

Something that I hate is when a hardware manufacturer lock the devices just to use with another partner company or something like that and I think it would be better if it leaves free a device to use it however we want, for example computer hardware where the drivers are propietary. This is really shit cause there are more than just one platform and many times people using diferent platforms get troubles.

The same thing happens with cellphones. So I decided to tell you, in this case, how to free your Motorola V3 to use it not just in your country but in all the world or in many others at least.

Note: the steps are for a PC running Windows.

First we need a few things:

*Download the p2k drivers 2.9 used to communicate your cell with the PC.
*Download the scotty2_8.26_downgrader_v2. We need it to downgrade your phone’s bootloader.
*And we also need the P2K_Easy_Tool_v37 which is actually an unlocker tool.

So now that we have all the stuff (thanks to Toly) including a mini USB to USB cable we have to follow the next steps:

1. Download de files above and unpack them.
2. Usign the mini USB to USB cable, plug in your cell phone to the PC and install the drivers.
3. Turn off your cell phone.
4. Press and hold the asterisk (*) and the pound (#) and while holding press the power button. It will show you what motorola calls the “flash screen”:

5. Now you will need to run the scotty’s tool to downgrade the Boot Loader. Unpack the zip, run the “downgrader.exe” and follow the instructions. You will see some commands in the screen of the cell phone. At the end of the commands you will notice someting like that:

Bootloader is now 7.D0, have fun modding!

Note: if you have problems with it, just try again the steps from #3 to here.

6. It´s time to run the p2k_easy_tool_v37.

-Run the “P2K_Easy_Tool_v37.exe”
-Go to the “Locks” tab
-Choose your cell phone model (V3 RAZR)
-Check “Unlock SP”
-Click on “Do Selected Jobs” button

7. That´s all. Your cell has to work fine with other SIMs.

Some cell phone tips

There are some tips you should know about your cell phone, for example:

112: This is the international emergency number and it works in all the world.

*#06# (without pressing the calling key): This combination shows you the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity). In case your cell phone is stolen you can call your carrier and give this number to lock it. Not just the SIM but your cell phone. Nobody will use it again. If everybody would know that, stole a cell phone would be unnecessary.

*3370#: If you don’t have battery enough, it has to give you more.

The last one doesn’t work for me. I have a Motorola V3, if someone has a tip, please write it in the comments section.

Activar encriptación WEP en el router tcw710

En el post anterior indicaba la manera de accesar a la configuración y abrir puertos en el router tcw710. Ahora indico la manera de activar la encriptación WEP de la red porque por default ésta no viene activada y de seguro que algunos intrusos se pueden aprovechar de eso.

Lo primero que hay que hacer es accesar en la página de configuración del dispositivo (leer el post anterior para saber como); una vez dentro lo que sigue es irse a una de las pestañas superiores que dice “Wireless” y después seleccionar la pestaña del lado izquierdo que dice “Security”.

Bueno, tenemos 2 tipos de encriptación, la WPA, que sería mucho más recomendable configurarla si el dispositivo y tu tarjeta de red la soporta, y tenemos también la WEP, que es la que activaremos por el momento.

Tenemos que activarla y después elegir el tipo de encriptación WEP que deseamos (puede ser WEP 64-Bit o de 128-Bit). Seleccionaremos la de 128-Bit por ser más segura. Enseguida seleccionamos “Required” en donde dice Shared Key Authentication.

Siguiendo con los pasos nos vamos al campo de PassPhrase e introducimos una palabra o frase (sin espacios) y damos click en “Generate WEP Keys” para crear las claves. Debemos de tener en los campos de arriba nuestra clave WEP de 128-Bit que es con la que podremos accesar a la red.

Ya por último solo tenemos que aplicar los cambios dando click en el botón de “Apply”, darle un refresh a la página y listo, al querer entrar a la red nos pedirá el tipo de encriptación y la clave.

Ah!!! y otra cosa muy importante es que la configuración la tenemos que realizar conectando la computadora al router mediante el cable de Ethernet.

Cómo reparar el adaptador de corriente de una macbook

Bueno como no me iban a hacer válida mi garantía de apple pues me decidí a hacer una reparación casera por cuenta propia mi adaptador de corriente que se había quemado del extremo delgado del cable.

El primer paso fué el de abrir el Magsafe, lo cuál me tomó aproximadamente unos 10 minutos y lo hice con una herramienta que todo mundo tiene en su cocina, un cuchillo. El método consistió en serruchar alrededor de todo el adaptador hasta que esté no tuviera otra opción más que la de abrirse.

Ya una vez abierto lo siguiente fué cortar transversalmente la goma que viene en el extremo delgado del adaptador. Lo anterior con la finalidad de poder hacer maniobrar con los cables que vienen dentro, porque de lo contrario sería más difícil porque estarían muy cortos.

Después de eso sigue unir los extremos de los cables y poner cinta de aislar perfectamente para que queden bien asegurados. Ahora si se puede probar para ver si funciona correctamente.

Una recomendación que hago es la de dejar así como está hasta ahora el trabajo, yo la dejé hasta que cargara toda mi batería, para verificar que funcione correctamente y no se vuelva a quemar.

Por último solo restaba asegurar mejor los cables encintándolos un poco más, acomodar los cables y pegar la tapa. Y listo!!! tenemos Magsafe para un rato más. Yo encinte con color negro porque fué el color que conseguí pero ustedes pueden hacerlo comprando de color blanco, ya después lo haré yo.

Cuidado con TextEdit

He descubierto que existe cierto “problemita” con el editor de texto de Mac OS X. Resulta que si uno no tiene cuidado a la hora de trabajar con ese software, especialmente quienes están acostumbrados a teclear muy rápido, podríamos eliminar archivos importantes que no deseabamos que desaparecieran.

Supongamos que tenemos una carpeta en el escritorio de nombre “MiCarpeta” y que ahí tenemos archivos que nos interesan. Si abrimos la aplicación TextEdit y nos vamos al menú Formato -> Convertir a sólo texto veremos que las barras de herramientas desaparecen debido a que estamos apunto de crear un archivo de texto plano; ahora escribiremos algo en el archivo y nos vamos al menu Archivo -> Guardar , lo colocamos en el escritorio y le ponemos el mismo nombre de la carpeta que mencionamos anteriormente, cuidando que no tenga ningun tipo de extensión y que la casilla de verificación de “.txt” esté desactivada.

Ahora por último presionamos rápidamente 2 veces la tecla de retorno y ¡ listo !, hemos reemplazado nuestra carpeta por un archivo de sólo texto.

Tengan cuidado la próxima vez que usen TextEdit, no vaya a ser que se equivoquen y cambien su carpetas importantes por simples archivos de texto.
